Description
In the Japanese strain of Buddhist thought, the five elements (godai, 五大) are defined as earth, fire, wind, water, and void. Void, or sora (空), also means “sky.” Rather than an expression of lasting emptiness (as the name may suggest), sora represents the open space within which creativity and energy can manifest. It’s the blank canvas where an artist’s imagination can be sparked, the electrostatic buildup that can ignite as lighting.
